Manoa is a neighborhood in the heart of Honolulu city with a rich history. There are a variety of architectural styles of homes in the valley and on the hillsides. While driving through one of the main thoroughfares such as Oahu Avenue, Manoa Road, or East Manoa Road you might see a storybook style aka "gingerbread" home, a Dutch Colonial, Victorian, Tudor, Spanish Revival, Mid-Century Modern-Minimalist, Contemporary, Mediteranian, Ranch homes, and more. Many of these homes are on the historic register. The notable family names that are associated with these homes and the famous progeny of the community's private and public schools contribute to it being an attractive community to live in.
Manoa was once home to the first sugar and coffee plantations in Hawaii and former home of Hawaiian Royalty. Now there are these beautiful homes and convenient access to shops and dining, parks, hiking trails. Manoa is also home to the University of Hawaii Manoa.
It's a wonder how so much natural beauty can exist in a major metropolitan city such as Honolulu.
