Mililani, Central Oahu, Honolulu County, Hawaii is situated in a higher elevation between the two mountain ranges on Oahu. This higher elevation allows for cooler temperatures, several degrees lower than other parts of Oahu. Mililani Town Association homes cover the majority of the zip code. Mililani Town Association is the community association for homes in Mililani Mauka above the freeway and below homes built by Castle and Cooke below the freeway. Launani Valley (Wikao St) and Waipio Valley (Waikalani Dr) are also in Mililani Town zip code, but not part of the Mililani Town Association. The main benefit of living within the MTA boundaries is the ability to use their 7 recreation centers. The schools are also ranked well in the area. There is a wide range of home ages, Waipio Valley has homes that were built in the 50s and Castle and Cooke started building Mililani Town Association homes in 1967 with most recent homes built in Mililani Mauka built in 2007. There are four distinct shopping areas - Mililani Shopping Center on Kipapa Dr. (Foodland, Ross), Mililani Marketplace on Meheula Pkway west of Kam Hwy (Safeway, Longs), Town Center of Mililani on Mililani Parkway (Times, Walmart, Longs, many restaurants), and Gateway at Mililani Mauka (Longs, Tesoro, McDonalds).
